Xamam Greece

Known for its mix of Venetian, Ottoman and Greek influences, Chania offers a dense and layered setting of narrow streets, artisan shops and historic buildings. It is here that Katerina Garofalaki found the space that would define her project: a former hammam dating back to the 1600s. A graphic designer and stylist, she was driven by the desire to create a place with a strong identity, not just curate one. The encounter with the building proved decisive, marking the beginning of Xamam.

From the outset, Katerina, together with Tonia, chose to respect the character of the space while adapting it to retail. The intervention remains deliberately light. Domed ceilings, aged textures and soft lighting create a calm, almost intimate atmosphere, while the layout allows visitors to move naturally through the store. White walls and a herringbone wooden floor bring brightness and clarity, balancing the depth of the original structure.

Within this setting, the product takes on a central role. The selection focuses on Greek designers, with ready-to-wear and resortwear pieces that emphasize craftsmanship, material quality and a strong sense of identity. Accessories, also produced by local artisans, extend this approach, creating a cohesive offer rooted in place. Rather than following trends, the curation favors pieces that carry a story, reflecting a clear and personal point of view.
