Color Forecast S/S27

Human evolution can be viewed as a three-stage rocket: PRE-HISTORY, HISTORY and HYPER-HISTORY. We are currently transitioning from HISTORY to HYPER-HISTORY. In this new phase, advanced societies will depend heavily on ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) for functioning and growth.

Prehistoric societies had no tools to record knowledge. History began with the invention of systems to store and transmit information—allowing accumulated knowledge to grow exponentially. In the historical age, societies relied on technologies like agriculture while also preserving data in books and libraries. Today, ICT has evolved beyond storage to PROCESSING information, autonomously collecting, storing and analyzing data—leading to constant human-computer and computer-computer interaction (eg, robotics like Gemini Robotics).

We are witnessing a massive shift from a physical world to a digital infosphere, where digital natives (Gen Z and beyond) will eventually blur the line between physical and digital realities. We're becoming INFORGS—informational beings—interacting in a shared digital environment with both human and artificial agents. These agents don't share our intelligence but often outperform us in specific tasks. By 2027, being constantly connected will feel so natural that disconnection will cause distress. This shift will spawn cyber-culture, post-humanism, and new aesthetic expressions in response to an overwhelming, fast-paced, remix-driven reality.

Values and meanings will be generated and processed at high speed, often outpacing human comprehension, creating a “kaleidoscopic” effect. In response, escapism and an imaginative mindset will dominate social behavior. New aesthetics will reflect micro-utopias, nostalgic for a rural, analog life, entirely devoid of tech—an ideal we know isn't truly available, but still long for.

The 6 Themes of Aesthetics:
RURAL, PRESENT-ISM, DE-LULU, HAPPINESS, POPCORN, FLAGS

By Nello Marelli for Intima.com

RURAL

An aesthetic movement centered on embracing an analogous, rural existence, inspired by a countryside lifestyle entirely devoid of technology.

Tactility, hand-made objects, craftsmanship, and natural material colors are emphasized, with a preference for greens.

PRESENT-ISM

Present-ism makes everything relevant in the here and now. Aesthetic Synchronism and Cultural Syncretism are the defining psycho-cultural and social phenomena.

These aesthetics proposed a layered creative density—a concentrated mix of objects, thoughts, and words, both in graphic design and fashion.

A blend of light and dark colors, used in contrast or layered in seemingly chaotic, yet harmoniously balanced, ways.

DE-LULU

De-luded: aiming to highlight a very realist awakening—one that leaves no room for illusions.

The way to counter the opacity or heaviness of the present is through abstraction from reality, using imaginative, light, phantasmagorical, and even playful processes. (Italo Calvino).

Bright, saturated colors, glossy and metallic surfaces.

HAPPINESS

Objects of happiness—pieces that carry tales of uncommon creativity and bring a smile to our faces. There's a need to create ironic installations, between clarity and alienation.

Playfulness is introduced, moments of joy based on simple, commercial collections.

Materials and colors aim to surprise: goniochromatic particles, phosphorescent and thermochromic effects.

POPCORN

By 2027, everyone will be talking about "freedom"—the freedom to act.

"Freedom" is always defined by personal perspective and is now being redefined. The welfare state brings freedom and security, and in 2027, it will be a hot topic, with the European elections and the US midterm review.

Color palette: warm yellows—amber, honey, orange, melon, popcorn.

FLAGS

In 2027, radicalism will reach its peak, manifesting as extreme simplicity in both choices and social behavior.

Flag colors, primary and secondary, simple and dynamic, will influence collections designed for activewear, expressing a desire to be involved and take action.
