The Derek Rose company shares with deep sadness the passing of its founder and chairman, Derek Peter Rose, who died on 29 August 2025 surrounded by his family. Taking over the family business in the 1950s, Derek guided the brand to international recognition while championing British craftsmanship. Twice honoured with the Queen’s Award for Export and elected chair of the British Menswear Guild, he represented the best of British fashion to the Queen and on the world stage.

Beyond his achievements, Derek was deeply devoted to the clothing trade and the people behind it - mills, makers, agents and retailers. His vision and commitment to quality earned the brand loyal customers in more than fifty countries, yet his greatest pride lay in the enduring relationships he built.

To many, he was not only a leader but also a mentor, a gentleman and a friend. His warmth, humour and generosity of spirit will be dearly missed.
