Marking its 150th anniversary, Chantelle turns to image-making to revisit its history. Rather than a traditional retrospective, the brand commissioned Renaud Cambuzat to develop a photographic narrative exploring how the body, and lingerie, have evolved over time.
The concept unfolds through sixteen silhouettes, each tied to a decade from the 1870s to today. There is no attempt at historical reconstruction. Instead, the creative direction leans into interpretation, reshaping volumes, materials, and attitudes through a contemporary lens to establish a dialogue between past and present.
Imagery anchors the narrative. Each frame is carefully composed, with posture, light, and framing conveying the essence of a period without resorting to nostalgia. The body acts as a constant, reflecting broader shifts in aesthetics, culture, and social codes.
The result reads as a tightly constructed editorial statement. The archive becomes a working resource, reinterpreted, repositioned, and projected forward. The narrative is further informed by research developed with fashion historian Salomé Dudemaine, adding depth and context to each visual.
With this approach, Chantelle positions its heritage as a dynamic tool for creation, shaping both imagery and future direction.
