Bonny Carrera’s 3D Art

16 October 2025

Bonny Carrera's art turns honeycombs into bikinis, candy floss into trendy jackets and watermelons into plush armchairs using AI tools such a Midjourney. We were intrigued by his technique and vision and were eager to share his refreshing compositions.

Berlin based Bonny Carrera is an artist driven by a passion for innovation, pushing the boundaries of illustration and 3D design. With 114K followers on Instagram, his mesmerizing works arouse feelings of surprise, playfulness and revelry. A self-taught professional, he has mastered tools such as Cinema 4D, Redshift, and Photoshop, while lately exploring the application of Midjourney, an AI tool which generates images from textual descriptions. His journey fostered both technical skills and resilience, evident in his creative works, which are delightfully refreshing combining every day elements to create something truly sensational and unexpected. In design as in fashion, he has caught the public eye by merging fruit, food and natural elements, styling unique pieces by putting AI to the service of creativity.

The Creative Process

“My creative process often starts with a rough idea - for example, 'What could a dress inspired by a dragon fruit look like?'” the artist tells us. "I then use AI to generate different interpretations of this basic idea. Once I have found a direction, I refine the designs manually until they are feasible."

Technology has given the artist the opportunity to go beyond classic design techniques: blending pop art aesthetics with organic elements Bonny creates enticing futuristic designs with a touch of humor. Form, texture and color are central to the artist's works, his images conveying a flurry of sensations to the onlooker.

He goes on to explain, "I like round shapes in bright colors. I can't get enough of combining these colors and shapes in an unconventional way, turning simple inspirations - like an orange or a banana - into complex design objects.

Fashion with Organic Shapes

The “Food fashion” project is a highly impactful series creating visually compelling garments in a fascinating balance of what is ordinary and yet very extraordinary due to the combinations used: a lavish party dress made of peeled bananas, blueberry swimwear, sugar eggs lingerie, a raspberries and cream jacket… Bonny's take on fashion breaks boundaries, transforming nature through technology… In his own words: “Nature is an endless pool of design possibilities. AI helps me to playfully abstract these shapes and translate them into completely new silhouettes.”

That said, a brand with a global outreach, such as Adidas, would be a great opportunity to create something for a larger audience, and how exciting would a pair of honeycomb-inspired sneakers be?

AI in Art and Fashion

While Bonny acknowledges the concerns of critics who fear AI might overshadow human creativity, he believes that AI will bring about positive transformations in the fashion industry. "I don't view AI as a replacement for my creativity, but rather as a visual brainstorming tool or creative ally," he states. One of its greatest advantages he recognizes is the speed at which designers can generate countless variations, accelerating the creative process and allowing ideas to evolve faster. However, what Carrera is most excited about is the potential for collaboration between AI and humans in the future. Drawing a parallel to the rise of digital photography, he sees AI as a tool that enhances creativity and opens new possibilities: "The creative core remains human—AI simply helps us think outside the box.".
