2019 H.U.G. Gala Rewards the Industry's Finest

The award gala, which this year recognized honorees Dora Lau and Susan DeMusis took place in New York's stunning 230 Fifth Penthouse. The event was hosted by Project H.U.G. president Camille Block, and proceeds went towards supporting the work of the Rusk Institute and Hassenfeld Children's hospital at NYU Langone.


The evening's first honoree was Susan DeMusis, President of Miraclesuit. She was introduced by Carole Hochman, with whom Susan had worked for a number of years. As well as thanking her colleagues, mentors and family, during her acceptance speech, Susan spoke movingly about the satisfaction she feels from her work in lingerie, and now in the swimwear industry.: "We give them courage. We give them confidence. Every day, we give them their own miracle. And that is the absolute of job satisfaction."

The second honoree of the evening was Dora Lau, Founder and CEO of Dora L. International Inc, who was introduced by her long-time colleague Janet Jack. With a long history in the industry, in which she launched both her private label manufacturer Dora L. International Inc and the full-bust brand Curvy Couture, Dora thanked the HUG committee, and her industry peers for their support, and for allowing her to continue doing what she loves.

The dinner and awards ceremony was followed by live Jazz from the renowned Pucci Jhones quartet.
