Nuria González, Lady Tiger on stage

In a world of white men who banned women from a sport which was considered “manly” and only “for men”, in the 1980s the black boxeuse Marian Trimiar fought with determination, both in and out of the ring until she successfully obtained her professional boxing licence from the New York State Athletics Commission -  the first woman to do so in the United States.  “Sus sueños son mis sueños”: faithful to this motto (your dreams are my dreams), coined in support of her female boxing  colleagues, under the battle name Lady Tiger Marian became an icon of women’s struggle for equal rights. Inspired by her story, in the Spring/Summer 2021 fashion arena of the Gran Canaria Swim Week by Moda Cálida, Nuria González upholds the image of a strong, fearless and independent woman,  willing to fight, today as in the past , against adversity and the conventions of the world she lives in. On the runway like in the ring, the encounter is between bold colors, daring cuts and evocative prints, glossy textiles and sparkling overlays. The result: a knock-out at the first round!
