Econnection: three-part sustainability...

09 November 2020

... WITH SPECIAL REGARD TO THE PRODUCT’S END OF LIFE. THREE PREMIUM TEXTILE COMPANIES HAVE JOINED FORCES IN A NEW ECO-FASHION PROJECT, RANGING FROM TEXTILES TO STRETCH LACE AND OFFERING SMART COORDINATED SOLUTIONS READY FOR USE IN THE PRODUCTION OF INTI

Econnection is the outcome of a new collaboration and business model which brings together three big players in the world of textiles: Penn Textile Solutions/Penn Italia, an international company in the production and development of innovative textiles using circular knitting technology; Tessitura Colombo Antonio, known for the manufacture of lace and ribbons used in lingerie; Elastici Besana, specialized in the production of stretch bands for corsetry and intimate apparel. The three companies worked together, each one focusing on its realm of specializiation, channeling strengths in a shared project encompassing the latest eco-fashion developments in their respective lingerie collections manufactured using Roica V550 and Amni Soul Eco yarns.

Starting from the name, Econnection, which immediately places focus on the importance of pooling resources towards a sustainable project, the collection encompasses a range of highly-specialized coordinated and ready to use textiles: 7 stretch-yarn textiles by Penn Textile Solutions/Penn Italia, 3 laces by di Tessitura Colombo Antonio and 3 stretch bands by Elastici Besana), in which the concept of responsibility is also applied to the products’ end of life thanks to the ensemble of ingredients used. As concerns, the stretch bands, Asahi Kasei’s sustainable Roica V550 degrades without releasing harmful substances into the environment as specified by the Hohenstein Environmental Compatibility certificate. It also carries the Gold Level Material Health Certificate of the Cradle-to-Cradle Product Innovation Institute**  measuring its impact on the environment and human health.  Developed by Rhodia-Solvay and produced and distributed in Italy by Fulgar, Amni Soul Eco is the world’s first 6.6 polyamide yarn which is degradable under anaerobic conditions in approximately 5  years* following its disposal.

In pursuance of responsible innovation, the project aims to enhance the synergy between the know-how of new generation “green” textile companies with the objective of presenting manufacturers with a series of "turnkey" solutions, offering the possibility of creating lingerie in which every item (from the textile to the lace to the stretch band) provides the purchaser with guaranteed sustainability until the product’s end of life. The Econnection capsule will be sent to a selection of international brands in an exclusive bio-box.
